The Proposal: The upstate is a sprawling area, defined by city centers that are reasonably small in size but suburban areas that are vast. The intent is to provide a network of transport that via public, bike or foot can enable people to get to their jobs or shop without need for a car. The upstate is growing faster than anyone imagined. And with that growth is the need of a public transportation system that enables people to leave their cars at home. A system that gives people with cars or without, means to work, shop and enjoy life, Congestion on roads and highways will only get worse, it is time to be proactive. My proposal is a network of individual lines that connect with each other. The thought behind that is the current bus lines attempt to cover too much territory, but never connect except at the main terminal. It is ridiculous to expect an individual to ride two hours to work. Many lines run so close, they could connect. So enable them to, it will help. Second, allow people to buy online. You can still take cash on the bus, but allow them to buy a transit card online so that they can add money online. Third extend local service. No one works bankers hours anymore and many work till 9 or 10 pm. Enable them to get home, not just get to work. Fourth, public transport is for all. There is a huge demand for parking downtown. Advertise the bus as a way to get downtown to dine or enjoy a festival. No parking fees and you can have a glass of wine or whatever. Fifth, travel every thirty minutes. To expect some poor sod, who ran screaming after the last bus to wait an hour in extreme heat and humidity or cold and wind is unduly cruel. They pay for transport, they deserve better. Six, to encourage drivers to leave their cars, you must make it a reasonable choice Finally, every major corridor in Greenville must be addressed before we even consider expansion of service. People walk 30 minutes, some longer to hit a transit point. Then stand in unmentionable heat, cold, wind or downpours just to get home. No one who drives could be cajoled into leaving their car to do that. We need public transport, we also need riders to make it viable. I think we can make this a community of riders, happy to leave their car at home at least 9 to 5 or 12 to 9 without worry. Help me make this happen

Welcome

Welcome and thank you for visiting this site. This is a site dedicated to improving alternate means of transport, be it public, biking or walking. Dedicated to the fact that everyone has the right to a means of getting from point A to point B and a safe and reliable way of getting there. Open to ideas and proven plans to get us there. Because traffic congestion exists and continues to get worse, we owe it to the community to explore all means to improve our transit options. I am open to any suggestions that are positive in nature.
